Bohemian Decor on a Budget
Updated: Jun 3, 2019
When I think of Bohemian design I immediately imagine of colorful rooms filled with mixed textiles, overlapping rugs, and the queen of Boho herself, Stevie Nicks. She'd be twirling around in one of her iconic flowing dresses, her fringe shawl following her every move as she sings "Rhiannon".
Whether you call it Bohemian, Boho, or Gypsy, this eclectic taste is more than just a style, it's a collection of nostalgic feelings and fearless attitude. If you like to follow the rules of design, this style is not for you.

For those looking for Bohemian decor that matches their free spirit, here are some modern pieces at affordable prices.

6. Ivory 5 Piece Comforter Set
Traditional Bohemian decor dates back to the 1800's, but modern Boho design has been on trend the last few years. Having no rules when it comes to design, it allows for more freedom. A painted buffet next to a mid century chair could be in the same room as a thrifted leather sofa covered in colorful pillows and throws.
Global influences are a huge part of Boho decor. You will often find pieces that are inspired from Moroccan Architecture such as rugs that have the same patterns as hand painted tiles or light fixtures that resemble Moroccan lanterns.
2. Green Velvet Chesterfield Sofa
6. Paisley Damask Print Curtains
Many associate the design style with hippies and immediately think of a cluttered and chaotic mess. While some spaces may be cluttered, they are far from chaotic. Homes that include Bohemian design are commonly relaxed, peaceful, and inviting.
Take a minimalist approach and you will find yourself living in a refined Bohemian oasis with each piece hand selected. Just because it's Boho, doesn't mean it has to be cluttered.
2. Metal Bed
3. Blue Wood Beaded Chandelier
The common thread in Bohemian design is the warm and welcoming feeling once you enter a home. The pieces encourage lingering and lounging. Whether you are a collector or minimalist, Bohemian decor will flow effortlessly throughout your home.
1. Metal Tree Trunk Accent Table
Be fearless as you blend fabrics and colors with mismatched furniture. Buy fresh flowers and fill your home with potted plants. Hang colorful lanterns near windows and let the sun shine through. And if you're like me, have an easel in the middle of it all and let the colors pour out from your soul to the canvas.
Until next time,
Katie
